Who’s Epure?
"What the hell is an Epure?"
Tes ‘Epure’ Lamin is a Virginia born and raised live sound/recording engineer, producer, sound designer & artist that happens to have a very fond love for pigeons.
It all began at the age of 4 in a basement with a karaoke machine, Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ album on cassette, and a few blank ones. Fast forward a couple years and we’ve graduated to the Windows 98’ voice recorder, a pair of headphones in the microphone jack and an old Yamaha keyboard. Thanks to dial-up, Epure learned more and more about producing and DJ’ing and began producing at age 8, and spinning records at age 10. Thankfully, Epure was surrounded by a supportive family whose encouragement drove him to dive deeper into the world of Audio.
As time went on, Tes grew older and continued expanding his knowledge while recording many things and many people, and still doing so ‘till this day. From Mixcraft, Beatcraft, Virtual DJ and Audacity, to Logic Pro X, FL Studio, Ableton, Reaper, Traktor & Pro Tools.
Epure’s primary genres are Hip-Hop/Rap, R&B, Afrobeat, Pop & Electronic. Secondarily; Rock, Folk, and now Country!
“Okay, but what’s with the birds?”
When Epure received his first pets in 1st grade; 2 parakeets, it was Love at first sight. He’d draw birds on everything, he’d point out all the birds, and he’d even make bird noises in class almost to the point of disruption. As time went on, he never really grew out of it and pigeons became his ‘official bird’.
It’s very clear Epure simply loves what he does. Whether it is engineering, DJ’ing, sound design or producing- If it involves audio, music or birds, Epure is all ears.
